Deer are grazing in airport areas and ending up on the runway. Airport officials at the Stevens Point Municipal Airport are concerned.
"The impact of a 120 pound deer or a 150 pound deer colliding with an airplane can be a serious consequence," says manager Mike Pinney.
Pinney says although they monitor the airport's perimeters regularly, there's only so much they can do. He hopes the airport can meet with officials in the near future to discuss options like fencing, to help keep the deer away.
There have not been any casualties in the airport's history involving deer, however, a deer on the runway recently collided with comedian Bill Cosby's plane during takeoff.
