If the weather doesn't cooperate, cross-country skiers might go a third straight year without competing in their event during the Badger State Winter Games.

The lack of snowfall in the last couple years has caused organizers to cancel the event, and that never sits well with the athletes.

"There's always a huge frustration," says Organizer Pat Meyer, "We like to put the games on and every one of our volunteers participates in the event."

Meyer says six to eight inches of heavy, wet snowfall should insure the event goes off without a hitch.

He says right now there's enough snow on the trails of Nine Mile Forest to accommodate the event.
