ELMWOOD, Wis. (AP) -- A 21-year-old western Wisconsin man suffered a gunshot wound to the head after authorities say he accidentally hit himself while discharging a handgun.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says Brian Tiffany of Elmwood had shot several rounds into the air outside his home before he was injured. Witnesses told investigators that Tiffany thought the weapon was empty before he discharged one round and hit himself in the head.
Tiffany was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. His condition was not immediately available.
The sheriff's department says the incident remains under investigation.
