The senior marketing ii class at DC Everest is working hard for their money and at getting a step up on their way to careers in the business world.
"You get to come to school and get to do what you want in the real world," said Joel Pergolski, class project manager, "It gets us involved in the community and gets us the experience that we're going to use later on in our life."
The students have already surpassed their goal of having their tabletop advertising books placed on 250 tables in Wausau, and now are trying to reach their other goal of having 30 advertisers in the book.
It's a process that through a little intra-business strife has transformed these students into hardened businessmen and women.
"They have grown into little business people, said marketing class teacher Jodi Peterson. "They've had to make all the business decisions. They've fought a lot in the class to make the decisions that they've made, but they've made some real good, ethical decisions."
The students are part of Decca, a nationwide association of marketing students. The money they earn from the project will go into a scholarship fund that will be equally distributed among the students.
And that will be more than just a drop in the bucket profits should exceed last year's total of more than $1,300.
