Most kids get a job or just hang out all summer, they don't paddle the length of the Wisconsin River to celebrate a birthday.
But some of the members of 4-H are making the 430-mile trek down the big river to meet the Mississippi. 4-H is 100 years old, and this is their way of celebrating.
Only a few people are paddling the entire length. Most are doing sections of the river in their area, and then giving way to new paddlers.
The group left the headwaters of the Wisconsin River June 24 and they plan on reaching the Mississippi the first week of August.
