Fire Leaves Family Homeless

Around 3:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the owner of a house in the Town of Saratoga in Wood County saw smoke coming from his garage. He tried to put the fire out with his hose, but it was too hot.

Nekoosa and Grand Rapids Fire Departments responded to the fire and found the house fully engulfed.

They had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, but the house was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but arson is not suspected.
