Farmers in our area remain optimistic for decent yields when it comes to this year's crops.

But, depending on what you grow and where you live, agricultural experts say yields vary greatly.

A local expert says while hay is on target, two other big crops in our area are a little behind schedule.

Agricultural Educator Tom Cadwallader says two crops that have been slow are corn and soybeans, because of cooler temperatures.

He says as it stands right now, corn and soybeans are about 10 days behind where they should be this time of year.

Cadwallader says while corn is knee high in the southern portions of the state, it is around shin level the further you go north.
