Flying the American flag is a great way to honor our nation, but to some it can't be done without proper etiquette.
According to the American Legion, the flag should be displayed between sunrise and suset, and should be lit up in darkness.
The stars should be displayed in the upper left corner if placed on a wall or window.
And old flgas should always be properly disposed of.
"The desecration of the flag that you see around the world isn't something we approve of at all at the American Legion and the American flag is something we're quite proud of and we never wanna see it disposed of improperly," said Paul Missett, a former marine.
That's why the legion collects old, tattered and torn flags for proper proposal.
Last year they collected 530 flags and had a special ceremony honoring what they represent.
This year's ceremony is Aug. 16th.
