WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- A 21-year-old man convicted in the 2007 stabbing death of a teen at a central Wisconsin party has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.
Devin Felix was also ordered Monday to serve 20 years of extended supervision after he's released.
As part of a plea agreement, the Weston man earlier pleaded guilty to second-degree intentional homicide in the death of 18-year-old Nathaniel Davids outside a Schofield home.
Prosecutors say Felix stabbed Davids five times after a fight broke out. Members of Felix's family said he was defending his brother, who had been beaten by others at the party.
In a statement to the judge Monday, Felix said he's an alcoholic who ignored advice from others to stop drinking and taking drugs. He apologized to Davids' family.
