Resale shops offer the unusual, the ancient and even the new, but just recently are people from all walks of life realizing all resale shops have to offer.
"Since the economy has changed we've noticed everyone trying consignment,” said Rachel Cumber, owner of Hidden Treasures in Rothschild. “Even people who may not have tried it before are trying it and when they do - they're hooked."
"It's the bargain hunters. They are out there and the people you think maybe wouldn't be bargain hunting, they are now and they're loving it,” said Mary Jdid, owner of Red Truck in Wausau.
Shoppers are finding the resale shops worth while especially when they realize they can get all their beloved brands for just a fraction of the cost.
"We're able to offer jeans you maybe at the mall would buy for $40-60,” Cumber said. “Our highest price is usually around $18 so you're saving a significant amount."
Not only that, but thrift stores are not exactly what they used to be. Now you can even find little luxuries at resale shops like Hidden Treasures, who carries replica purses, Chanel and even Tiffany & Co.
"In this type of an economy, for someone to purchase the real thing, is quite a budget crunch, but this is something that allows even the everyday person to enjoy a little piece of luxury,” Cumber said.
