A Twenty Four Year-Old Stevens Point Man was taken into custody Thursday night after driving his car into the Three Squares restaurant in Waupaca. The incident happened around 8:50 PM and is under investigation by both the Waupaca County Sheriff’s and Waupaca Police Departments.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department received information that the suspect drove a car into the restaurant during normal business hours, then left and headed West Bound on Highway 54 from Waupaca.

Shortly thereafter, A Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle near the Silver Lake Drive Area. When the Deputy attempted to make contact, the suspect drove away, almost running into the Deputy with the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Deputy pursued the suspect back towards Waupaca on Highway 54, who was driving at a high rate of speed, reaching 115 miles per hour.

The Waupaca Police deployed tire deflation devices west of Grand Seasons Drive, as the suspect continued towards Waupaca. The suspect then proceeded to drive through and intersection, failing to stop for a red traffic light.

After continuing East Bound on West Fulton Street and driving over a median heading east on the West Bound Fulton Street lane, the suspect crashed into a sign. He headed towards Highway 10 before being taken into custody by both Waupaca Sheriff Deputies and Waupaca Police. The man was taken to the Waupaca County Jail.
