WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- Police say the upstairs resident of a Waukesha duplex is dead and the downstairs resident is being held in the fatal stabbing.

Police Capt. Mark Stigler said Thursday that the Waukesha County medical examiner's office found that 55-year-old Carol Fisher died from multiple sharp force injuries.

Stigler said the 49-year-old man who lives downstairs called 911 and is the only suspect in the case. He remained held pending formal charges.

Officers sent to the scene Tuesday night reported finding Fisher dead on the floor. A large kitchen knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was found in the apartment.
