If your family is trying to save money this summer, why not stay close to home for a vacation? More than 70,000 tourists will trek through the Minocqua - Arbor Vitae - Woodruff area, and the local chamber says they'll have plenty to do.

"People want to come up and they want to relax, they want to walk out in the woods where no one is going to bother them," says Custom Relations Director Dianna Lang.

There are plenty of events to look forward to this coming year, including Minocqua's biggest event called Beef-A-Rama.

"We're very excited this year because this is our 45th year we're celebrating. The only way I can express it's our Mini-Mardi Gras. There are people who are dressed up. There's music all day long there's food there's drinks," says Dianna Lang.

More than 15,000 thousand people get dressed up in the craziest cow costumes they can find. It's a sight you won't want to miss.

A few minutes North is the Woodruff area, which is expanding outside its downtown area and making a name for itself in the medical industry.

"They have a brand new Aspirus building out there and premier medical center where they have yoga classes and pilates and all these medical classes and physical therapy," says Custom Relations Director Dianna Lang.

Just on the other side of Woodruff is Arbor Vitae, where locals started a new event this year.

"They just started a flea market in the Arbor Vitae Fireman's Park over there every Saturday between Memorial Day and Labor Day," says Dianna Lang.

Director Dianne Lang says after more than thirty years in Chicago, she came up here to relax and show others from big cities how to get away.

"It's the most relaxing area I have ever known, and just the beauty of it, you know you don't get tired of that," says Dianna Lang.
