A $1,000 signature bond is set for the man accused of shooting a 7-month old puppy in the Town of Ringle last month.

26-year old Timothy Christiansen made his initial appearance Thursday in Marathon County Court on a misdemeanor charge of mistreating an animal.

The judge also ordered that the Ringle man cannot have any firearms at his home. He will be able to go hunting, but any guns he owns will have to be kept at his father's home.

He was also ordered not to have any contact with the owners of the puppy.

Owner Michael Strayer tells us his German Shephard mix puppy named "Moccasin" is still dealing with injuries since the incident last month.

"He's doing a lot better he has some bladder control problems. His attitude has changed. He's more scared about things he's not himself," said dog owner Michael Strayer.

A pre-trial hearing for Christiansen is set for June 22nd.

I think that the owner should be looked at here, not just the man who did the shooting. People need to learn to control their animals, and trust me when I say Mocassin is NOT a frienly dog. I dont believe in any type of cruelty to animals, but again this dog is not friendly. If this man cares for his dog as he does his horses, its no wonder it is not friendly. Again, one should call the humane society and ask how many times there have been calls of neglect called into them in regards to "his" horses. It is very unfortunate that people like this have ANY animals. And shame on the man who shot the dog, its not the dogs fault--its a deflection of how he was raised by his owner; Mr Stryer!!!
