He's been getting you through your work week for years, and now WIFC's Belky is at the top of his game. Belky took home the Wisconsin Broadcasters award for best medium market radio show; beating out stations from across the state.
The award came as a surprise to Belky who says he really didn't think he would win.
"It's weird because up until the presentations Saturday night, I was sitting there saying I'm not going to win. I didn't really think much of it. Then two hours before the ceremony I started getting nervous, and I was thinking it would be pretty cool to win and I don't want to be disappointed, but then they said I won and I called my mom. I called my grandma."
Belky may have been shocked, but for his listeners it was no surprise. His afternoon radio show has been a hit since he started it. With a mix of listeners calling in, celebrity gossip, and great music, Belky has created a winning combination.
He says he enjoys the afternoons the best because he is working and so if everyone else. It's a laid-back work environment that he really likes. Belky also loves when listeners call in. He says he does the show for them anyways so they might as well be on it.
For Belky his relationship with radio started at a young age. He grew up listening to WIFC, and he says he always dreamed of being on air.
While having so much fun Belky discovered an interesting talent, and he's been using it in his show ever since. Listeners have been commenting about his roadrunner voice since he created it, and he says it surprises people to find out he's actually making the sound.
"I don't even know how we ever figured out how I could do that. I just went on the air one time and I was hitting beats with a song, and all of a sudden I was bouncing and I went meep meep meep...Yeah I'm that guy"
