Things are back up and running smoothly at Granite Peak Saturday after a chair lift malfunctioned Friday.

A computer problem stopped the new, high-speed chair lift at the hill. Skiers were stranded for several hours and some finally had to be helped down with ropes and a forklift

"It was a very unfortunate situation," said Operations Manager Vicki Baumann, "but everything is taken care of, nobody got hurt. It's running again today as you can see in the background."

Baumann says the stranded skiers were all given a free day of skiing for their troubles.

And despite Friday's glitch, the resort is having a very good season so far, with a large number of skiers coming from out of state.
