Everyone these days seems to be cutting back on the luxuries in life, but what about other bills like your health insurance, car insurance or just not paying any bills altogether?
Experts say if you decide to join the millions and drop your insurance, that’s a big mistake.
If you do end up getting sick or in the hospital during the time you have dropped insurance, you could end up with a hefty bill going to the tens of thousands of dollars.
There are alternatives, you could qualify for health insurances that cost as little as $30 a month. You should keep in mind however, if you decide to go with a cheaper insurance, it may not provide prescription coverage or routine visits to your doctor.
Another piece of advice is to make sure to not get rid of your car insurance. Although it’s not required to drive with insurance in the Badger State, it’s not only risky for you not to drive without it, but for others to not drive with insurance as well, especially if you end up in an accident.
Finally, experts say if you’re running into financial trouble make sure you don’t just ignore bills altogether.
“We know whats going on in the economy, please give us a call don’t just ignore it don’t throw it away we didn’t get the bill or any kinds of those things we will work with you,” said Kelly Zagrzebski of the Wisconsin Public Service.
She says some people in Marathon County are sitting with four to five thousand dollar energy bills when they don’t have to. She says there are many different programs they offer, and if you let them know your circumstance, then they will be able to help you during a time in need.
