Parents Arrested in Child's 1991 Killing

The details of the alleged crime are gruesome. Florida investigators say both Vicki and Jesse James Schobel have admitted to beating their daughter until she was unconscious. They said they then let her die several days later in her own bed.

According the arrest warrant, the child's body was stuffed into a sleeping bag she had gotten for Christmas. The Schober's then cremated her remains.

They both Fled Florida before anyone noticed their daughter was gone. The body has never been found. Detectives in Florida were tipped off by the baby's grandmother. That led to the arrest of Vicki Schober Wednesday in Nekoosa.

On Thursday, she had an extradition hearing in Wisconsin Rapids. Florida investigators want her back in their state so they can put her and her ex-husband on trial for murder. Jesse Schober is in custody is South Carolina awaiting extradition.
