Prom is always a special memory for high school students, but for two of them in Melrose, it will be something they'll never forget.

Allysha Morabito and Kyle Wyss are two students everyone at Melrose-Mindoro High School knows, so when it came to choosing this year's prom court, their classmates chose Allysha, who has down syndrome, and Kyle, who is battling brain cancer.

Their teachers say the announcement made the students' day.

Mesa Heit, a special education teacher at the school says, "She looked at me when she heard her name and she was like, prom? I'm on prom court? She was just estatic, she was so excited and she came over and gave me a hug and was like prom, prom, prom!"

But things got even better when the pair got to the dance, as they were crowned the prom king and queen.

They say their favorite parts of the evening were the dancing, and of course, getting to wear the crowns all night long.
