Four Weekend Water Deaths in Wisconsin

A 17-year-old Appleton boy drowned Saturday night in Richardson Lake in the Forest County town of Wabeno. His body was recovered after several hours of searching.

A 38-year-old man died in a swimming accident at Friendship Lake in Adams County. The man was pulled from the water late Saturday afternoon and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Those victims have not been identified Monday.

Thirty-nine-year-old Dale Buttke of Chippewa Falls drowned Saturday while tubing in the Eau Claire River with his family. A strong current pulled Buttke under the water around noon near Fall Creek.

Several children in the group also fell from their tubes but were rescued by passers-by.

In Vernon County, a 14-year-old boy drowned Friday night in a lake at Jersey Valley Park near Westby. Samuel Troyer of Westby was swimming with family members and friends when they heard him yell for help. They were unable to find him.
