STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- Portage County Coroner Scott Rifleman says a 19-year-old University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student found in a dorm stairway two months ago died of natural causes.
Rifleman said Monday that Andrew Woods died of a sudden cardiac arrhythmia from abnormalities linked to a pre-existing condition.
Rifleman says Woods had been drinking before he died but alcohol was not a factor in his death.
The freshman from Fredonia was found unresponsive on a second-floor stairway landing in Thomson Hall about 1 a.m. Feb. 7. He was pronounced dead at a Stevens Point hospital about an hour later.
Woods graduated from Random Lake High School in southeast Wisconsin.
