FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEWSCHANNEL 7 WINS A RECORD SEVEN ASSOCIATED PRESS AWARDS
WSAW-TV wins in seven of eleven categories including Best Newscast.
WSAW-TV, NewsChannel 7 of Wausau has been honored with 7 awards from the Wisconsin Associated Press Organization, including “Best Newscast”. The amount is more than any other station in the State of Wisconsin. The other awards honor the station’s efforts responding to breaking news, producing special investigative reports and sharing stories that inspire and recognize positive things happening in North Central Wisconsin. They are: Best Spot News (Brokaw Chemical Spill), Best Series Reporting (Precious Cargo: School Bus Safety), Best Enterprise Reporting (Secrets in Shawano Investigation), Best Feature Reporting (Our Local Heroes, Dad Meets Son for First Time), Best Sports Story (Girl Meets her Hometown Heroes), and Best Use of Audio (Are There Angels Among Us?) and Best Newscast
NewsChannel 7 has been named “Best Newscast” twice during the past 3 years. Susan Ramsett, the station’s News Director, says “It’s a great honor to have our work recognized by other journalists, but it’s the opinion of our viewers that matters most. During the past few years we’ve built an excellent team of video-journalists who really care about what’s going on in the world and in the communities we serve. They know the importance of responding quickly, investigating thoroughly, and seeking out some good news to share every day during these tough economic times.”
In addition, NewsChannel 7 has been honored in the Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Spot News categories three years in a row.
"We are proud and excited to be recognized by the Associated Press. We have a dedicated staff that understands the importance of covering and delivering compelling local stories." stated WSAW’s General Manager, Al Lancaster.
WSAW, NewsChannel 7 is the local CBS affiliate for the Wausau/Rhinelander area. WSAW is owned by Gray Television, Inc.
The Wisconsin Associated Press Organization honors local news organization on a yearly basis. Entries are judged by AP member organizations across the country.
