MILWAUKEE (AP) -- America's Second Harvest of Wisconsin has received its largest donation of eggs ever -- just in time for Easter.

Lake Mills-based Daybreak Foods and Whitewater-based S&R Farms have donated 288,000 eggs.

Second Harvest of Wisconsin President Bonnie Bellehumeur (BELL-hoo-mehr) says in a statement that food donations are down and demand is up 36 percent so the donation comes at a great time.

Spokeswoman Gina Styer says the eggs are good for three weeks. The food bank began distributing them Thursday.

Second Harvest Food Bank provides nearly 11 million pounds of food annually to 1,100 food pantries, meal programs and shelters in eastern Wisconsin. It's affliated with Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization.
