SHAWANO, Wis. (AP) -- The 8-year-old Bonduel boy who died after being pulled from the Shawano Recreation Center swimming pool was with his Cub Scout pack on a family outing at the time.

Police say Hunter Vincent, the son of Steven and Dawn Vincent, was found floating face down in the water shortly after the center's open swim session began Tuesday evening.

Members of the group immediately called for help, and a parent who is a paramedic started CPR. But the boy was pronounced dead after being taken to Shawano Medical Center.

He was in second grade at Bonduel Elementary School, where counselors were on hand yesterday to help students and staff.
