Just about the same number of people moved to Minnesota from Wisconsin as the reverse between 1995 and 2000.

The latest census shows 51 and a-half thousand Minnesota residents moved to Wisconsin, with about the same number of Minnesota citizens moving to Wisconsin. The Badger State in fact, had a slight gain of 180 Minnesotans.

There are several reasons for the population swap.

Hudson and other Wisconsin communities are within easy driving distance of employers in the Twin Cities.

Two other important population centers are adjacent to one another, Duluth-Superior on Lake Superior and Winona-La Crosse on the Mississippi River. Residents frequently move back and forth.
