They're members of one of the most respected bands in the nation, and Thursday they shared some of their wisdom with local kids.
The band talked with students at Rothschild Elementary School. The band's main function is to play for presidential ceremonies, but they also tour the country and educate people about their jobs and about the importance of music in the lives of children.
"For us to be able to come here and get down with these kids and talk with them and make music live, in person," said MSGT Jay Niepoetter, President's Own Marine Band. "That's an opportunity that I wish I would've had when I was little."
The band has 143, full-time members; 120 of those are musicians that are chosen from the top musical institutions in the country.
