A Northcentral Wisconsin dog is about to become so famous, he will be bringing in more money for his family than nearly all of us.
Winston is the first ever Milk-Bone spokes dog.
The Kronenwetter pooch is about to become a superstar after beating out 99 other dogs in a $100,000 contest.
"We found out about the contest about one week before they stopped accepting entries so it was just by chance,” said Winston’s owner Melisa Rupert.
It’s a chance that’s paying off big for Winston’s proud parents who say they can’t believe Winston’s about to start pulling his own weight around the house.
"When we first got him all he did was cost us money - he eats a lot [and] we had to buy a new vehicle that would fit him,” Melisa said. "It doesn't feel real. It's so surreal. I mean its just such an unbelievable opportunity for Winston."
For the next year Winston will be parading around the country campaigning for Milk-Bone and he’ll also be appearing on the front of his favorite box of treats.
"I think he'll enjoy it because he loves meeting people and he loves the attention so he'll enjoy the trips.”
And mom and dad should too.
"It's really neat to be recognized,” Melisa said. “You know, we don't have names. We're 'oh! - you're Winston's parents!’"
Even Winston’s sister Bounce is excited for his opportunity. There’s definitely no sibling rivalry here.
"She'll be eating a lot of Milk-Bones now,” Melisa said. “She's very food motivated. So that's very exciting for her."
Melisa is not quite sure when Winston will start appearing on Milk-Bone boxes, but expects it to be at least a few months. For now, they are just taking it in stride.
