Last month a real showboat of a dog from Wisconsin Rapids beat out the rest in its breed in the 133rd Annual Westminster Dog Show.
His name is Champion Tupelo Shoboat tu China tu, better known as ‘Boo.’
"He's the number one pug in the country right now, both breed and all breed, and at this very moment he's also the number one toy dog in the nation,” said Patt Kolesar, one of Shoboat’s owners and his breeder. "He is the epitome of the standard."
How so?
"He would be like walking through Italy and seeing a beautiful woman and you would just turn and to 'wow,’” Patt said. “He was all of that and a bag of chips."
Now this isn’t just a proud parent boasting about their baby. In fact, judges at the self-proclaimed greatest dog show in the world are not the only ones noticing Boo’s great canine qualities.
“We’ve got people from all around the world that want a Boo puppy,” Patt said.
But the Kolesars of Wisconsin Rapids still find it hard to believe their little Boo is generating so much attention or that he’s had so much success.
"When our little dog that you had running around in the kitchen and running around in the backyard here all the sudden does it, it's kind of hard to believe,” Ray Kolesar said.
"We couldn't ask anymore of him. He's done everything he needs to do. He doesn't need to prove anything else,” said Patt.
However, Boo’s almost-famous little sister still has plenty to prove. In fact, Patt and Ray call Peanut Butter and Jelly their next little star.
And just a little side note – the Kolesars have another number one dog in the nation named Rosa Barks.
