2 Suspects in Wausau Drug Bust will Head to Trial

A judge has found enough evidence to send two suspects in Wausau drug ring to trial.

Five people were arrested on October 26 after officers executed search warrants at two Wausau home.

A Lieutenant with Marathon County Sheriff's Department says they believe the the suspect were selling heroin and cocaine, however the drugs will be sent to the crime lab for analysis. The drugs have an estimated street value of $3,000 - $5,000.

Will Connors, 39, and Bernard Welch, 43, will return to court on November 26 for pretrial hearings, which will begin the trial process.

Connors is charged with four felonies including three counts manufacturing or delivering heroin, one count manufacturing or delivering cocaine, and three counts of bail jumping. He remains behind bars on a $25,000 cash bond.

Welch charged with three counts of delivering or manufacturing heroin, three counts of maintaining a drug trafficking place and one count delivering or manufacturing cocaine. He remains behind bars on a $20,000 cash bond.

Investigators say the charges come after a month long investigation.

Keion Jives, 29, Larry King, 34, and Victoria Espinoza, 26, were also taken into custody following the bust. The three remain behind bars on probation violations.

Two homes were searched, one on the 1200 block of Cherry Street, the other on the 500 block of N. 6th Avenue.

A portion of Cherry Street was closed while investigators conducted their search.
