Some Marshfield businesses say they don’t know how much of an impact the city’s smoking ban has had on them yet.

The city-wide ban went into effect in April, but the owners of Rose Bowl Lanes say they won’t know for another couple of months if it’s going to hurt their business.

Todd Leonhardt says so far they have kept all their regular customers and have even seen a new, much more family-oriented clientele stopping in. But he says the ban’s true effect should be seen in the fall.

“When the ban started it was right at the end of the season, the regular bowling season,” Leonhardt said. “Now we’ll see with the upcoming season how many people it really affected.”

Leonhardt says they plan on trying to accommodate smokers forced to go outside during the fall and winter months.

He says they’re looking into installing an outdoor heater among other things.
