Another weak winter led to just a 21-day snowmobile season in Marathon County. The trails officially close Friday morning at 8 a.m.
The 21-day season may be disappointing, but it is better than the zero days the trails were open the year before.
The snowmobile coordinator says if the trails were open through the weekend there is the chance of damage to the land. And with 800 miles of trails crossing 1800 private landowners, there is no need to risk the damage.
