WI Nightclubs More Aware

Wisconsin nightclubs are pointing out the exits, posting more signs and clarifying contracts with bands.

A week ago, 21 people were trampled to death at a Chicago nightclub after pepper spray was used to break up a fight.

Later last week, nearly 100 people died after pyrotechnics from a rock show ignited a Rhode Island bar.

Ben Schubring manages Luther's Blues in Madison. He says the Rhode Island tragedy prompted the bar to clarify its contracts with bands to explicitly ban pyrotechnics.

Club workers also posted signs in the dressing room and stage area warning bands not to use pyrotechnics.

At the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, officials plan to have people point out exits to patrons before or during presentations.

Bob Latessa is general manager for the Brat Stop in Kenosha. He says the club will put up floor layout signs to let people know of all 21 exits.
