Legislature Wants Final Say on Gaming

In an extraordinary session, the state senate and assembly passed a bill Friday that would give them the final vote on any new gaming compacts.

Under current law, Gov. Jim Doyle can negotiate with the 11 Indian tribes without legislative oversight.

Doyle says he doesn't need 132 negotiators, and the compacts couldn't get done if the Legislature was involved.

Doyle hasn't said if he will veto the bill.
