Hate and ignorance can have dangerous consequences. That's a lesson some local high school students learned Wednesday.
Millicent and Norman Daschman are traveling Wisconsin to teach students about the Holocaust. Both husband and wife are descendents of German prison camp survivors.
The Daschman's call Sept. 11 another Holocaust. They say just as in World War II, the terrorist bombings were fueled by intolerance of other people's religious beliefs.
As part of the lessons students at Athens high school received, teens were separated from their friends to show how people their age were separated from families and friends during the Second World War.
"That would be pretty scary for someone my age," 15-year-old Jacob Kulas said. "You might panic, and you get shot or worse."
The Daschman's say they've taught their message of acceptance to about 10,000 students from sixth grade and up, all across Wisconsin.
