A Wausau woman and two Chicago men have been arrested in Waupaca County after a K9 officer led authorities to the discovery of crack cocaine in their vehicle.

In a news release from the Waupaca County Sheriff's Department, the vehicle was initially pulled over around 12 a.m. Friday at U.S. Highway 10 and County X near Weyauwega for a loud exhaust.

A nearby officer also responded, along with his K9 partner, Arrow. During a walk around the vehicle, Arrow alerted his handler of the likely presence of drugs.

"It is a significant amount of crack cocaine," says Sheriff Brad Hardel. "The dogs have been an asset in many ways to law enforcement in Waupaca County. They have helped police find people and have been involved in numerous drug searches."

The news release does not specify how much cocaine was found. A small amount of marijuana was also in the vehicle.

An infant was also in the vehicle and was released to a family member of the woman.

Charges against the three adults are pending.

Arrow and another K9, named Arca, were bought through donations from residents and businesses in Waupaca County. The two dogs have been active for approximately four months, according to the news release.
