The Wisconsin Rapids man accused of killing another man on a Stevens Point sidewalk will go to trial. Aaron Harvath's pre-trial conference will be February 20. Today he pleaded not guilty to first-degree homicide and endangering safety with a dangerous weapon.

The judge decided there is enough evidence to go to trial. Several witnesses testified, including a man who was driving by Park and Division Streets when Wolf was shot November 2. He followed Harvath in his vehicle as Harvath ran from the scene with a gun.

"He ran out into the street and ran right out in front of my truck, so he got out and pointed the gun right at me in the firing stance," said the witness, Robert Cook.

Several police officers who were on duty that day also testified.

A detective says police found a receipt in Harvath's car for the revolver found near the scene. There was also a box for the gun at Harvath's house.

"The analysis showed there was one fingerprint on the firearm that came back to Aaron Harvath," said Sgt. Tony Babl, a detective with the Stevens Point Police Department.

And if convicted, Harvath could be sentenced to life in prison.
