UPDATE: Suspect in Rhinelander Stabbing to be Tried as Adult

A 16-year-old Rhinelander teen charged with 1st degree attempted homicide and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety will be tried as an adult.

The charges against Michael Thimm stem from an investigation into the stabbing of two people on December 12. According to a Rhinelander newspaper, Thimm became upset after his mother's boyfriend tried to restrict his internet use. Thimm's mother, 42, was injured when she got between her son and her boyfriend.

Thimm told police he did not intend to injury his mother, but did intend to kill her 44-year-old boyfriend.

Both victims received non-life threatening injuries, however, Thimm's mother did required surgery for a wound to her neck.

The incident happened at a home on the 500 block of Spring Lake Road in Rhinelander.

Officers recovered a folding buck knife, which is believed to be the weapon.

Thimm is free on a $15,000 cash bond. He'll return to court on May 23.
