Authorities say a 52-year-old woman from the Green Bay area was killed by a tree in Lac Du Flambeau this morning.

According to a lieutenant with the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department, the woman was attempting to remove a tree from a power line.

She was found on the ground with a tree on top of her.

Lac Du Flambeau emergency personnel gave the woman CPR when they arrived on the scene and she was soon after taken to the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff where she was pronounced dead.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Lac Du Flambeau Tribal Police Department and the Vilas County Coroner’s Office.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
