Thanks to some pretty amazing animals two people are safe after a Stratford home erupted in flames Friday afternoon.

A call reporting a fire at a mobile home off Highway 97 came in just before 2 o’clock.

Two people were inside the home when the fire started.

“I was sleeping. I just got off work a few hours ago and I went to bed,” Daniel Sauer said. “I woke up because my dogs woke me up.”

Sauer’s friend who was in the home also made it out without injury.

Unfortunately the dogs, and a cat, didn’t make it.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
