MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be in Milwaukee next week for a fundraiser where tickets start at $1,000.

The Arizona senator's campaign Web site says he will be at a reception at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center on May 29.

Tickets to the main reception at 7 p.m. cost $1,000 per person, but people who want to attend a private reception at 6 p.m. will pay $10,000.

Republican leaders have said Wisconsin is an important state for McCain to win.

Democrats have prevailed here in the past two presidential elections by less than half a percentage point each time.

National Republican Party Chairman Mike Duncan has said McCain plans to visit Wisconsin often before the November election.
