A lot of people in the Northwoods wished the flakes that fell over Eagle River had fallen months ago. The small amount of snow this winter has meant the amount of business in the area has also been small.

So much so that even crowds of people in town for the World Championship snow derby weren't enough to make up for the losses.

"Well of course the snowmobile derby gives a boost to everybody," said Andres Paez, co-owner of the White Eagle Motel on Highway 70 . "[But] when you don't have any snow from the beginning of December all the way through right now..."

Paez says the lack of snow has made a big impact on his business. He says he's already lost hundreds of dollars this season.
