Mary Gessert of rural Marshfield was killed Friday morning when a train collided with her car in Western Marathon County.
The collision occurred around 8:15 a.m. at a crossing on 26th Road just off of Highway 13 between Marshfield and Spencer.
Gessert's car was pushed over a quarter mile down the tracks, by a train that police say was probably traveling between 40 and 50 mph.
Sheriff's deputies say early morning sun could have been a factor.
The Marathon County Sheriff's department is currently investigating the accident.
