Most people don't give much thought to letting their dog or cat out in the yard. The disappearance of nine dogs in two days in Wood County, around New Year's, however, has some pet owners thinking twice.
At the Marathon County Humane Society, they say it's important to keep your pet on a leash or confined in some way. The shelter manager says this is true even if you have an outdoor pet and live on a large property.
"Actually even though you own a big piece of property, the leash law still applies," said Lombard.
Lombard says it's best to be with your pet at all times. She says it's just like making sure a child is supervised when out in the yard.
