On November 7, 2002, the National Organization of the Boy Scouts of America released the national Camping Report for 2002 and ranked the Samoset Cub Scout resident camp, Akela's World number one and the Boy Scout Camp (Tesomas) number three out of a total of 315 Scout councils in the nation. Both Akela's World and Camp Tesomas are located just north of Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
"This is a great confirmation of what the Scouts of Samoset Council have known all along - that our camping program is simply the best," according to Bruce Mickelson, Scout Executive for the Samoset Council.
