At a town hall meeting Tuesday night (1-7-03) in the Town of Pine River, some people who live there say they don't want another cell tower in their area if it can be avoided.
But Cellcom representatives say they need a new tower on Highway 64 to increase their coverage for cell phone users.
The town board says they would like to see Cellcom share an existing tower just three miles from the spot they are proposing to build the new tower.
But Cellcom representatives say three miles means a lot in their business, and the existing tower won't cover the area they are targeting.
The Pine River town board is requesting an independent engineer review the proposal by the company Cellcom hired to research and build their tower.
If the independent engineer determines all the data presented is accurate, then the town board will approve the new tower.
