The Antigo School District had previously decided to close Aniwa Elementary School.
That led to a group of about 1,500 Aniwa area residents forming a petition to form a new school district from Mattoon and Aniwa elementary schools.
The school board will decide Wednesday night whether to accept or reject the petition.
