Before the potatoes were passed around and the turkey carved, runners laced up their shoes for the 4th annual Eastbay Turkey Trot in Wausau.

1,500 braved the chilly temps to get in a pre-feast workout. Kimberly Reed and her group of friends from Crossfit Themis showed up to burn carbs they hadn't even eaten yet.

"You can eat more if you work out," she says. "It just makes you feel better about yourself and it's fun."

Event coordinator Danielle Siolkowski says the turn-out this year was higher than last and will greatly help those in need.

All proceeds benefit the Marathon County Hunger Coalition.
