Wausau city leaders agreed to end all discussions about bringing a casino to the area, after the proposal was soundly defeated by voters in last week's referendum.
But an issue they're moving forward on is a plan to combine area fire departments and emergency services into one big metro department.
What this means to surrounding communities is Wausau is ready to talk with elected officials in the area about joining together as a metro fire department.
