A United Way fundraising campaign in our area is in the homestretch. Members say that at the rate donations are coming in, they should be able to reach their goal by Nov. 20.
The United Way in Marathon County needs to raise more than $2.7 million. Members say they have some new companies to thank for making donations this year.
"Major industries have all done first time campaigns for the United Way," said Marathon County United Way Executive Director Joanne Kelly, "and have asked their employees to participate in giving, and they've done a great job. We're not at our goal yet. We're about 75 percent of goal, which is a little ahead of where we were last year at this time."
Kelly says she is optimistic that they can make their goal, if people continue to give.
