This might sound corny, but the residents of Stevens Point are bonding as a community today for the 12th Annual Corn on the Curb!
Thousands were out on the square in downtown Stevens Point all afternoon. The event was free to get in with live music, a bouncy house and yes plenty of corn! Troy Hojnacki is one of the event coordinators. He said Corn on the Curb is kind of like a family reunion for Stevens Point.
"It's a way for the community to get back together to remember that downtown Stevens Point is still here," said Hojnacki, "We go through a long summer of festivals throughout the state, and through central Wisconsin. And this is like our little way of saying, you know, Stevens Point is still here."
And why corn you might ask? Hojnacki said it started off as a unique idea to host a corn roast, and because Stevens Point has so many curbs, Corn on the Curb became the name of the event. Hojnacki said it was so catchy the city decided to host it every year after that.
